Under general supervision, Install and repairs new mains and services, operates Mains & Services trucks, tows small trailers, operates compressors, pumps, generators and sandblasting equipment, and keeps tools and equipment in order and calibrated on a 6 month or year schedule. Performs all work in the Street Technician A classification and, in addition:
1. Under general supervision, makes permanent and/or temporary repair, including the pinpointing and repair of gas leaks to any size main, service and associated installation, such as leaks at wall (4200), leaking risers, (3rd party hits and valve and foundation leaks. The lead street technician has the ability to call a supervisor as needed, and the supervisor and lead street technician will agree if the supervisor needs to be present for the duration of the job.
2. Under general supervision, tests & gases out new mains & services.in accordance with policy & procedure.
3. Shores, bridges and braces excavations and operates power drilling, tapping and cutting machines, and pressure control equipment.
4. May lead the crew in the absence of the Construction Supervisor and complete necessary paperwork for processing the completed order, including the completion of the SCG Material Issue Ticket for returning excess parts or receiving additional parts.
5. When called upon, will lead the crew in the absence of the Construction Supervisor and complete necessary paper work for processing the completed order, including the completion of the SCG Material Issue Ticket for returning excess parts or receiving additional parts.
6. When called upon, will inspect new installations by outside contractor and complete necessary paper work for processing the completed order, including the completion of the SCG Material Issue Ticket for returning excess parts or receiving additional parts.
7. When called upon, will act as inspector and installer on bell joint clamping operations done by outside contractors and complete necessary paperwork for processing the completed order.
8. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of electronic systems and mobile data terminals to include ensuring accuracy, updating “as built” and working with drafting. Department. imputing timesheets regularly for crew members
9. Uses CGI (combustible gas indicator) and electronic locating equipment in the course of normal duties.
10. Photograph all before, during and after construction related activity specific to each job.
